People who attend Portland Alternative Investment Association events should be actively involved in the alternative investment community, as specified in our Mission Statement.
Members should be directly involved in the management of, or allocation to, alternative investments including direct service providers. Members are invited to attend all of the Association's events, both educational and networking. Potential members are invited to contact us regarding attending events. Those people who are not directly involved in the management of, or allocation to, alternative investments or the alternative investing related aspects of their firm, are invited to attend the larger educational events and panel discussions, but are not required to register as members. An example of this might be a person who works in the investment industry, and is interested, but not currently involved in alternative investments.
The Association typically hosts two types of Events. On the third Tuesday of each month, we host informal networking events for members, and those eligible for membership, in order to provide an opportunity to discuss market and industry trends. It also gives us an opportunity to get to know our colleagues across the industry and in the Portland area. More formal, and larger, educational events are held in the Fall and Spring in a panel discussion format, covering current industry issues. These events have a topical focus and are intended to generate new ideas and encourage informed discussion.
Benefits of membership include free admittance to all PAIA events (including monthly networking meetings and twice-annual panel discussions), access to the members-only section of the website, and free admittance to one Northwest Hedge Fund Society event each year. Once your application is received and approved, you will receive an e-mail with information about your membership, login details, and how to pay your membership dues via check, credit card, or bank transfer.
The Portland Alternative Investment Association receives its income solely from Event and Membership fees. 100% of these fees are used to pay for the cost of hosting events. The Membership Fee Schedule is as follows:
